DITCON 7: SMART CITY – An Academic Platform Connecting Researchers with Industry

The Digital Technology Management program at the graduate level, College of Arts, Media and Technology, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with Nimman Connex under the project to develop Nimmanhaemin area into a Smart City as a model for economy and tourism safety in Chiang Mai Province, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, Game and Digital Cultural Heritage Research Lab, Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Upper Northern Region Branch), Knowledge and Innovation Research Laboratory, and Cas Cognizer Thailand, organized the “DITCON 7: SMART CITY” 7th National Conference on Digital Innovation & Transformation to disseminate knowledge from research, academic work, and advances in innovation and digital technology management, including technology systems in various fields by faculty members, students, researchers, as well as personnel from related government and private sectors and interested individuals. This served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and opinions about academic work and progress in innovation and knowledge management in digital technology and information technology, with research presentations in both abstract and full paper formats. Led by Asst. Prof. Suepphong Chernbumroong, Ph.D., Head of the Digital Technology Management program, academics, researchers, and students participated, covering topics on innovation and digital technology management. The event included a special lecture on “Nimman 2030: Building a Connected and Intelligent City” focusing on creating a smart city and future technology connectivity for the Nimman area, delivered by Asst. Prof. Pradorn Sureephong, Ph.D., lecturer in the Digital Technology Management program.

This event featured a press conference on the success of the Nimman Connex project to present the project’s goals and collaboration, which focuses on applying advanced digital technology to develop a Smart Tourism City by implementing 5 key technologies together. This marks an important step for Chiang Mai Province in moving forward to become a smart city that connects data, economy, and safety, while creating a model for smart tourism city development in other areas of Thailand. The presentation was honored by Mr. Veerapong Rittharod, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, and Ms. Wilaiporn Thanawuttipong, Senior Digital Economy Promotion Officer. The event took place on September 26, 2025, at Eastin Tan Hotel Chiang Mai.
